A focused 60-minute session to understand your situation, your options, and your next right step. No commitment to full representation — just clarity when you need it.
A strategy session is a structured consultation designed to give you an honest, legally grounded picture of your situation. We listen to what you’re facing, ask the questions that matter, and give you a clear read on your options.
You leave the session knowing what the legal landscape looks like, what choices you have, what risks each choice carries, and what next steps make sense. You also leave knowing what’s actually going to be asked of you — financially, emotionally, and procedurally — if you move forward.
This is the session to book when you’re in the “should I” phase. Should I file? Should I respond? Should I negotiate? Should I hire full counsel or try to handle it myself? A strategy session turns those questions into answers.
We come prepared. You send us the relevant documents and a brief situation summary in advance. We review them before the session so we’re not spending the first 30 minutes orienting. The full 60 minutes is focused on your questions and our analysis.
We don’t sell you on representation. Some clients leave with a clear plan to handle things pro se. Others decide they need full counsel. Some schedule targeted follow-up without full engagement. The point of the session is clarity — not a conversion.
“Talking to an attorney can help you develop and intentional, informed strategy, which even if you’re going to represent yourself, would color what your next steps are going to be.”
— Riley Moos, PartnerWe review your documents before the session. You're not paying for us to get up to speed on your facts — you're paying for analysis of them.
We tell you what we think, including when we think your best path is something other than hiring us. Our job in the session is to serve your situation, not our pipeline.
You leave with specific, written next steps — what to do, when to do it, and what to watch for. Not a vague promise to "think about it."
Strategy sessions are designed for specific situations:
Before you file for divorce, modification, or a protection order — understanding your options and the likely path forward.
When your spouse or co-parent has filed something and you need to understand your position, your timeline, and your options.
When you've chosen to represent yourself but want professional strategic input at key decision points.
Before mediation, understanding what you're walking into, what leverage you have, and what a reasonable settlement looks like.
When you're already represented but want an independent assessment of the direction the case is going.
A modification is brewing, a co-parent is signaling a move, a new concern has surfaced. Early strategy often prevents costly mistakes.
Before we tell you what we think, we hear what you're facing.
→You should understand the legal landscape before you make decisions in it.
→A real plan with real contingencies — not a template.
→Inside the courtroom, at the negotiation table, and everywhere in between.
→You'll never wonder what's happening in your case.
→The case ends. Your life continues. We plan for both.
→A traditional consultation is often oriented toward signing you up as a client. A strategy session is oriented toward giving you clarity, whether or not you ultimately hire us. The session is a complete service in itself.
Any existing court documents (petitions, orders, decrees, parenting plans), recent communications with the other party, and a brief summary of your situation and questions. We'll review everything before the session.
Sessions are typically 60 minutes. Longer sessions are available for complex situations. We'll recommend the length when you book based on your initial intake.
We can discuss it. If we're the right fit, we transition into full representation with a separate engagement. If we're not the right fit, we'll tell you and, where appropriate, help you identify someone who is.
Yes. If you're already represented, a strategy session can serve as a second opinion or a decision-point consult on a specific issue. We're discreet about it.
Yes. Attorney-client privilege applies to the session from the moment we begin, regardless of whether you ultimately hire us for further work.
